Making PDFs in QuarkXPress 6…

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR QUARK XPRESS 6 PDF CREATION

Please note that these screenshots are specifically for Quark Xpress 6/6.5 for Macintosh. If you are using Windows then please follow the 'Print Styles' screenshots and then print to the 'Acrobat Distiller' or 'Adobe PDF' printer.

Please note that Quark can now handle both spot colour blends and the colourising of greyscale TIFF images in both process and spot colour spaces. Therefore, providing you follow our instructions, you will be able to produce high quality PDF files for our presses.

3. PRINT STYLES

Please name your PRINT STYLE so it means something (we are using A4 as an example). If you do not see the 'Bleed' option then please remove the 'Custom Bleeds' Xtension from /Quark Xpress/Xtensions/ folder abnd re-start Quark Xpress

4. PRINT STYLES

To allow for registration marks, we always ensure the paper size is 20mm wider and 20mm taller than the document/trim size. In this instance, 210 x 297 becomes 230 x 317. This logic applies to every postscript file you will create

5. PRINT STYLES

Please note that we have used the 'DeviceN'colour to enable both spot colour blends and any coloured TIFF images. However, your PDF file sizes will be slightly larger. If you will never use the above, then you can set the colour as CMYK. If you are unsure please select 'DeviceN'
