Making PDFs in QuarkXPress…

Pensord recommend that Quark XPress users export PostScript (.ps) files from Quark and then use Distiller to create the PDF. You can download the Pensord Distill settings file for your version of Adobe Acrobat from the PDF Learning Zone page.
