Creating PDFs via postscript and distill from Quark XPress 7
1. Configure your output style for postscript

2. Select the NEW button at the bottom left corner and select PRINT

3. For demonstration purposes, we've decided upon A4 DUMMY. If you have a PPD such as AdobePDF or AdobePDF 8 - that is fine ...

4. Setup your PAGES section

5. Setup your COLOR section - this will keep any spots - select COMPOSITVE CMYK if you wish spots to be converted to process

6. Setup your PICTURES section

7. Setup your FONTS section

8. Setup your MARKS section

9. Setup your BLEED section

10. Setup your TRANSPARENCY section

11. Setup your OPI section

12. Setup your JDF section

13. Setup your ADVANCED section

14. SAVE your OUTPUT STYLE

15. Go FILE and PRINT

16. Now go to PRINT STYLE and select your PRINT A4 DUMMY (example). This will now use the settings we pre-configured
IMPORTANT - you will see the POSITION of your page (depicted in Red) default back to LEFT EDGE. This is a very dangerous setting which has reverted. Please re-enter your paper WIDTH and HEIGHT again and re-select CENTRE (depicted Green) in the POSITION category


17. Select the PROPERTIES button in the bottom left corner

18. Configure your Adobe Acrobat Distiller settings (we've used PDF/X-1a). Once you've configured the Distiller settings for your session, they should then *stick*

19. Hit the PRINT button

20. Your PDF is now created !
