Major investment marks Pensord anniversary

Exactly one year on from Tony Jones’ MBO of the company, Pensord has capped a momentous year with the announcement that they are installing a second 8 unit perfector press and folder only months after being the first company to commission the very latest specification eight unit in the UK.

When Jones took the reins of the company he promised a number of measures that would reflect his management style – turning Pensord staff into company stakeholders; setting up the Pensord Charter; creating an in-house Charity Fund; and investing in new kit. This latest acquisition of the second Heidelberg Speedmaster SM 102-8P means the company has now invested in over £4m worth of equipment since the MBO and demonstrates Jones’ commitment and integrity in delivering on his promise.

The first eight unit press marked Pensord’s intention to become a Heidelberg house, and proved its worth as a workhorse ideal for magazine production. Pressroom Overseer Rob Smith is delighted with the press, and says: “The press has a quick makeready and is very printer friendly. It saves time and money, creates less waste and is easy to clean and maintain.”  The new folder is a Heidelberg TH82 with pallet feeder.

Jones says:  “When I undertook the MBO last summer, I had the utmost confidence in the staff here, and that has been repaid with a buoyant year and a very healthy order book. This second eight unit was always in our plans, but we have been able to bring those plans forward, and now we have a significant means of building yet further the quality of service we can offer publishers as the company grows.

“We like to think we do things a little differently at Pensord, which seems to strike a chord with customers judging by our recent business wins.”
