Former Pensord CEO Receives PPA Chairman's Award

Tony Jones, the recent former chief executive of leading sheet-fed magazine printer Pensord has been honoured by the PPA with their Chairman’s Award, presented by PPA Vice-Chairman Peter Phippen at this week’s PPA Chairman's Reception at Ironmongers' Hall in the Barbican

Tony stepped down from his role at Pensord earlier this year when a management buyout of the company saw managing director Darren Coxon take the helm. The award was made at a networking event attended by senior executives from across the magazine publishing industry. It recognises Tony’s work over 10 years at the Welsh print company and his invaluable contribution to the PPA, to the magazine publishing sector and to independent publishers, with Pensord becoming Strategic Partner to the PPA’s Independent Publishers Advisory Council.

PPA chief executive Barry McIlheney said: “Tony has been a committed supporter of both magazines and the PPA for many years and it is fitting that he should be honoured with our Chairman’s Award. He has grown Pensord into a strong company and we look forward to building on his good work with Darren Coxon, Karl Gater, and the new team there.Tony said: “This is a proud personal achievement for me, and a reflection of the continuing close relationship between Pensord and the PPA. I truly believe that a strong PPA is in the best interests of publishers and as a magazine printer, that was always our principal concern. I know that Darren and the team will sustain this partnership with the PPA and help it to grow in future years.

Over the years Tony set up the IPAC Strategic Partnership, supported the PPA’s Magazines and IPAC Awards, chaired judging panels and towards then end of his time at Pensord established an incentive scheme for publishers’ PPA membership.
