Fire at Pensord Press
Fire investigators are currently investigating a blaze that took place in the early hours of December 23rd at magazine printer Pensord Press Ltd. in Pontllanfraith near Blackwood.
The fire broke out in the paper store of the factory, and fire crews were alerted from Cefn Fforest, Abercarn and Caerphilly.
Pensord's managing director Darren Coxon said: "The fire was started at around 2am on Thursday morning in our paper warehouse, which is in a separate building to the main print facility in Pontllanfraith. Initial feedback from the Police and Fire personnel attending indicate that unauthorised people broke into the property early this morning and lit a fire, damaging some of the paper pallets and an office. No-one was hurt, and production is continuing as normal.
Pensord is one of the UK’s leading sheet-fed magazine printers, and operates out of a 50,000 square feet factory. The plant operates 24/7, employs over 140 people and turnover is in excess of £11m.
