Winning the Wales Quality Award for Manufacturing demonstrates our high levels of excellence and the standards attained for customers.
Pensord has been awarded the Wales Quality Award for Manufacturing 2011 – the first time a first year entrant has triumphed in the 17-year history of the awards.
Based on the EFQM model the submission focused on ten aspects of business – from Leadership and Strategy, to People, to Quality, to Customer Satisfaction.
Leader of the team which assessed Pensord’s submission, Bob Connell, said: “Pensord are worthy winners in the manufacturing category, which is even more impressive when you realise that there were more contenders from the manufacturing sector than for several years.
Darren Coxon said: “This is a major endorsement of the quality inherent throughout our business. Huge thanks must go particularly to three members of our management team, Louise Williams, Caryll Maggs and Gareth Williams who spent many hours compiling the 35 page, 18,000 word submission document.
Karl Gater added: “The whole process started last February at a Wales Quality Award seminar. It’s fair to say that we were a little shocked by the amount of time, effort and analysis required but were completely sold on the real prize which was independent analysis of our business by trained independent assessors. To be benchmarked against best practice and receive a detailed report on how we can improve our business to deliver better service, quality and results for our stakeholders and customers was what we wanted and truly value.

The Wales Quality Award is based on the EFQM excellence model; a business model which helps organisations strive for Sustainable Excellence.
The awards are designed to provide an incremental improvement model towards business excellence. To have won the award for manufacturing at the first time of asking is a staggering achievement but what we also have is a blueprint for improvement which will help us drive even better service, quality and satisfaction for our clients.
