Leading magazine printer, Pensord, has come a long way since being founded in 1969 by the Billboard Company of America to produce the UK’s leading music title, Record Retailer. In 2010 Pensord was purchased by then commercial director, Darren Coxon, and operations director, Karl Gater. Since then Pensord’s timeline is littered with significant investments and people development leading to profitable growth and industry recognition for the job we do and are very proud of.
Since 2010 we’ve completely overhauled our pre-press area and our entire fleet of presses, which now boasts three 8 and 10 colour B1 sheet-fed long perfecting Heidelberg presses. Our bindery also consists of an impressive line up of machinery enabling folding, saddle stitching, perfect binding, polywrapping and mailing, all on the one site. In 2015 Pensord Digital was set up to provide very short-run digital printing, based at a new site in Bridgend.
Our focus on people is, we think, unique in the printing industry. In 2008 we received the Investors in People accreditation which has been successfully renewed 3 further times, most recently in February 2016. Training and development, and creating an environment where everyone can give of their best, remain at the heart of what we do. You’ll find a can-do attitude here at Pensord where our people really do make the difference!
We are Trusted
We are proud to boast that the average length of relationship with our largest twenty accounts is over 10 years. The trust and respect is mutual and every one of our clients is an important client.
We are Unique
Only 2% of print companies have the Investors in People accreditation, and only one printer currently holds PrintWeek Customer Service Team of the Year!
We are Ground-Breaking
We’re never afraid to lead the way and were amongst the first to deliver Digital Editions and App services to our publishing clients.
We are Safe Hands

All about people
Our Pensord People Really Make the Difference
Our service is fronted by our dedicated Title Managers who deliver outstanding service and offer support and advice on any aspect of our business. They are backed by our specialists in pre-press, printing, finishing, paper, mailing and also new technology.
We lead the way with our ground-breaking Digital Editions services and also help publishers deliver content to tablet and smart phone through our App service. In the background we employ shift performance management operating around the clock overseeing quality, schedule and performance, and providing peace of mind.
You will have gathered we are immensely proud of our Investor in People status. This is backed by our Pensord People Strategy launched in 2016 further enhancing our communication, training and people development. Our very own Pensord Charter defines the values by which we work for clients and business partners.
Green Through and Through
Pensord takes its environmental and corporate social responsibilities very seriously. The site incorporates an area of special natural interest and the river Sirhowy flows nearby. We are so serious that in 2012 we became one of the first UK printers to achieve ‘Zero to Landfill’ certification!
The company is certified to ISO 14001 and FSC®/PEFC chain of custody. The business utilises modern energy efficient machinery and vegetable based inks. All of our waste materials, such as paper waste, used printing plates, cardboard and polythene, are recycled.
We have been shortlisted for the Periodical Publishers Association (PPA) ‘Environmentally Sustainable Business of the Year’ and have been ‘zero to landfill’ since 2012.
Extended print offering
In 2015 Pensord launched Pensord Digital, our fantastic digital printing facility aimed at providing top quality, short-run print whilst delivering the same expected Pensord value for money.
