At the beginning of the year we installed our latest press – the SX102 10P, and it’s been proving its worth ever since.
Manufacturing Manager Gareth Williams explains: “The SX102 10P has had an excellent impact on quality and performance with figures around 25% better than the exiting SM102, mainly due to its Autoplate Pro mechanism and Inpress 2 ink control. Just like any other new press, there has been a gradual increase in production output since installation, as the operators gain more confidence and resolve any teething issues. Our best output to date was in October – 33% better than the press it replaced, and on a par with the incumbent XL presses. A sterling effort from our teams to complement a great bit of kit!
“Customers have benefited from swift turnarounds from files to delivery, and the additional offering of sealing their products or offering spot colours that only require one pass of the sheet through the press, ensure the best possible quality due to the advanced technology and minimal handling.”
Pensord leading the way Worldwide!
We’re a Heidelberg house when it comes to our presses and so it’s gratifying when the significant investment we make in ensuring we have the very best kit for our publishers is recognised by the manufacturing giant for performance in comparison to the rest of the world!
Karl Gater explains “We knew we’d been outperforming our peers in the UK but we found out recently that we’ve actually been somewhere near the top of the tree for some time in terms of Heidelberg press performance worldwide!”
Heidelberg’s Matt Rockley picks up the story “When we started analysing the data from the ‘Heidelberg Performance Benchmarking software’ (which related to the install base of the Heidelberg XL 105 long perfectors), it was very clear from the start that the Pensord XL105 8P was performing as one of the most productive presses in the world.
“The data was taken over a four-year period and the press remained at the very top of its class during this period in terms of the incredible amount of make-readies performed.
“More recently we have seen a number of the “web to print” companies standardise their product range and maximise the efficiency of the technology and reducing ‘down time’ signifi cantly. And as a company we are now very proud to have a number of our customers achieving and exceeding the standards set by Pensord Press in the early stages of XL technology.”
