Pensord Charitable Trust…

£35,000 raised for Charity!

When we established our Charitable Trust back in 2004 our aim was to give something back and to make a difference - however small - to the lives of others. Since then we've been raising funds for our chosen charity - The Hospice of the Valleys – in three ways:

  1. Pensord People participate in fund-raising events
  2. We donate £1 to the Trust for each print project we quote on
  3. And we pledge a proportion of annual profits

This has contributed to the £35,000 we have raised so far in support of this local charity that does amazing work helping to care for the terminally ill and their families.

Team Pensord are custodians of the fund

The Fund is co-ordinated by a team of enthusiastic volunteers at Pensord who get involved in the decision-making process as much as possible, help to establish strategies and set the parameters for further fund-raising initiatives.

This is a real team effort, giving everyone the chance to enjoy the process of raising money for charity and get involved in organising fun charity events.

About The Hospice Of The Valleys

The Hospice is a registered charity (Number 517724) based in the South Wales Valleys of Great Britain, with its headquarters in Tredegar.

Here is an open letter from Hospice chairman, Sue Kent explaining what they do.

A big thank you to all friends of our hospice

Our Hospice has been running since 1986 and provides the very best in specialist care for those affected by a life threatening illness. Our team provides 24hr care, 7 days per week to people in their own homes. We care for the patient and his/her family or closest carers.

Someone who has just been given the bad news of a life threatening diagnosis will find everything here to get expert help and clinical care from our specialists at the Hospice - and all completely free of charge.

Our Vision is:

“That everyone suffering the pain and anxiety of a life-threatening illness should have continued access to the unique and freely available quality care and support.”

And it is our mission:

“To provide free, high quality care in their own homes for patients in our area who are suffering from life-threatening illnesses; care that includes comprehensive support for families and extends from diagnosis, through treatment and, if appropriate, into terminal care and bereavement.”

At all times we aim to:

  • Maintain and develop a free, 24 hour service of total care for seriously ill people.
  • Help the families and carers of patients cope with the stress of life-threatening illness.
  • Recognise and address the physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs of all patients referred to the Hospice
  • Employ personnel with the training and personal commitment necessary to carry out the functions of the Hospice and to provide on-going training as necessary.
  • Co-operate with other health agencies in order to bring the benefits of palliative care to all in need.
  • Ensure that adequate funding is provided to finance the Hospice.

And that’s where the funds raised by our friends at Pensord has been so appreciated. The support you have given the Hospice has helped us care for people in our unique way when they need it most.

The funds raised will go towards three key areas of our work:

  1. Cancer Clinics
  2. Hospice at Home
  3. Bereavement Counselling

Once again, may we extend our thanks to Team Pensord, your customers and your business partners, for this remarkable generosity and goodwill.

It really does make a difference.

Sue Kent, Chairman
